What better way to look around on the of exhibitions of the year than with some amazing music on and a glass of fizz in your hand? As part of my birthday celebrations this year we went to the Vogue 100 After Hours party at the National Portrait Gallery. The dress code was "dress to impress" so I borrowed this 1930s dream of a dress from the Hope House Costume Museum. It is so beautiful, the way it is cut across the body, the winged panels around the legs and the delicate cut out flower detail over the bodice. Made modern with some lace up shoes and a leather jacket.
The exhibition is so beautiful, taking you though the decades of Vogue through carefully selected photoshoots. There were some of my favourites in there for sure. We also listened to a talk with Jaime Perlman, Creative Director for British Vogue. She talked about what the job entailed, the future of magazines and pointed out some new talents in photography such as Jamie Hawkesworth and Alasdair McLellan- definitely worth gazing at their portfolios. I found her to be so inspiring as my course at University is almost training us into her job but definitely into her world of magazines and photoshoots.
