DIY: Embroidered Constillations

This post was inspired by walking around Avenue Montaigne in Paris earlier this year. The main difference I saw in the clothing from just your regular things was the attention to detail and the amazing hand embroidery and beading. It made me want to bejewel everything I owned! If your new to hand embroidery, I promise you it is not as hard as you think, this one is pretty simple-enjoy!

You will need: non-stretch top (mine is from Zara), embroidery thread, embroidery hoop, embroidery needle, pins, fabric maker, sequins and beads.

1: Draw on your design with the fabric marker, I have used one that disappears with water. I only drew the actual constellation part and have done it around the neck and down the centre back. You can put it where ever you want!

3: Mark the constellation "joints" with pins to make it easier to embroider this part.

4: Embroider the constellations in single, straight lines. You may need to do little stitches to catch the thread down if some of the parts are quite long.

5: You should have something a little like this. This is where it works so much better on non stretch as the elasticity will want to pull against the thread that isn't stretchy and it doesn't really work. Linen worked really well as it is very similar to embroidery canvas so easy to work with.

6: Fill in all in between and around the constellations with stars, I created these with basic cross stitch.

7: Put beads or sequins (or both!) at each "joint" of the constellation to make it extra starry!

Voilá! Please let me know if you have a go yourself, send me a photo on any social media or email- Thankyou!
