Thinx - Think again

After watching Suffragette earlier this week, I feel like there are still too many similarities between 2015 and 1912. I really struggle to believe that an advert for underwear with period lining in them can be deemed inappropriate to be displayed. Outfront Media, who authorise the NYC subway ads, said that the word "period" is inappropriate. I think we could also say words like "breathing" and "sweating" are also inappropriate, all natural and subconscious body functions right? Just to throw it out there relevant or not, the CEO of Outfront Media is male.

How on earth did this advert get passes if the use of fruit in the Thinx ad is "too suggestive". I personally find the one above quite insulting. It does oppress women. It could be that feminism is "trending" right now but are the voices and concerns being heard?

Going back to women's suffrage, it seems to me that women are still required to fight for basic rights in law. Tampons are taxed when razors are not? The vast majority of women will tell you that sanitary items are not a luxury, Stella Creasy makes speaks of this really well in this video. Now, I'm no expert in by any means on the in's and out's of feminism and politics but surely both men and women can see that this is not right.

This article is really good to sum up the Thinx advert argument.

How do you (and the men you know) feel about the rise of feminism at the moment?
