Culture: Punk in Britain

10 Corso Como is one of my favourite places in Milan, it reminds me greatly of Dover Street Market in Piccadilly.  Part of the complex is the Galleria Carla Sozzani, a really beautiful space with a cool exhibition all about punk. The exhibition took you through images from the 70s at the height of the punk movement, creating a retrospective look from key influencers and icons of the time. There were some amazingly insightful quotes accompanying the photography and of course an amazing soundtrack to it. It is on display in Milan at the same time as another one by  photographer Janette Beckman in London, both in celebration of 40 years of punk.

These exhibitions seem perfectly timed as the Britain enters a time of such uncertainty. Maybe we need some punk mentality to push through it. Seeing these uber cool photos is also a reminder that we are still GREAT Britain, just look at our past. In terms of style, music and fashion we are one of the most influential countries on the planet. So  even though its all uneasy and potential harmful right now, we have to look to our amazing culture and talent to know that we will be ok.
