DIY: Woven Aran

This cardigan has been lying around my wardrobe for ages. I bought it at a vintage kilo sale after reading in Vogue that Aran was going to be cool.  Of course they were right but now it feels like the whole world is wearing cream knitwear so I have done this to jazz it up- hopefully you will find inspiration in this. Jazz up the cardigan,

You will Need:
A piece of Aran/Cable Knit
Yarn (in a colour/colours you like)
Darning needle
Scissors

 1. Thread up the needle with one colour. Then thread the yarn around one stitch at the top of the neck line.
2. Tie a double or triple knot in the yarn to secure it.

3. Do a running stitch following the raised cable to the knit pattern. Pull the yarn through.

4. Double back on the stitch so none of the knitwear colour can be seen and you will get a solid line of colour.

5. Continue down the cable pattern as far as you wish (I did 25cm for an oversized cardigan). Tie a double or triple knot in the bottom of the yarn to hold in place.

6. Voile, a way more exciting cardigan. You could do the whole way down your cardigan/jumper if you have the patience. It does take a while but so worth it.
