So I know this is kind of an obvious thing in theory but I have tried this twice and the first time it didn't work so there is a definite knack. I fist saw these jean edges last year, they're so understated but just give an edge to an outfit.
Make sure you do this with your jeans on so you can keep checking the length they are.

You will need:
Scissors
Some Jeans
Tape Measure
1. Roll your jeans to were you usually do.
2. Turn this down one fold so the jeans are just folded up once. Check that the top of this fold is were you want the raw edge to be. Remember, you can always cut more off but you can't add it back on.
3. Use the tape measure to make sure that this fold is the same height all the way around before you cut. Stand up, smooth out your jeans and check the length again.
4. Cut the hem off following the folded line. Check the length in the mirror, trim to make the edge the same all the way around and rub the cut edge to fray it slightly (if you want to)
There you have your perfect raw edge! To get the perfect distressed hole- y knees just snip into the knees (or wherever you want the hole) then scrub it with some wire wool.
